Brooding Cabinet

We needed a brooding cabinet that could be inside because of our harsh temperatures up here in Alaska.  Unable to find something that is easy to clean, has storage, and at the right height for kids to look into, I drew up a plan and built this:

The bottom "drawer" just hinges down so you can clean out the brooding part.  We actually put a light bulb in there as well.  Up top I store things like feed, newspaper (for lining the bottom drawer), and other supplies.

The hens have long outgrown the brooder, but we are keeping it around for when we decide to add to our flock.

I am a plan designer, and share the totally free step by step plans to build this on my blog.  Enjoy!
