| Additional Information | Sec. 14-222. Running at large; herding. (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to own, keep or be in control of any livestock and farm animal which runs at large within the city limits, including, but not limited to, horses, mules, cows, sheep, swine, goats, geese, chickens, ducks, rabbits, fowl or any other animal. Sec. 14-45. Hearing of nuisance; notice. (a) Authority to hold hearing; order. Upon written complaint wherein any animal or fowl is alleged to be a nuisance, as defined in section 14-1, the municipal court of the city shall have the authority to order and hold a hearing, upon giving notice of such hearing to the owner of any such animal or fowl. A substantial copy of the order for a hearing, detailing the time, date, place and purpose for such hearing, personally delivered or enclosed in a correctly addressed envelope to the owner, postage prepaid and deposited in the United States mail within not less than three days prior to the date of the hearing, shall be deemed sufficient and proper notice. j. To prohibit or regulate the keeping or harboring of livestock, hogs, horses, mules or other domestic livestock, chickens, birds or other type of fowl, reptiles or amphibians, or any wild animal and to prohibit any of the same from running loose within the city. (Ord. No. 95-47, § 1(Prop. #2), 11-28-1995/1-20-1996; Ord. No. 96-1, 1-23-1996) (2) Domesticated adult animals shall include, but not be limited to, horses, cattle, sheep and goats. Offspring shall be classified as adults, upon obtaining the age of one year. No swine or emu shall be allowed or permitted as a domesticated animal. Poultry may be allowed, subject to the restrictions as set forth in subsection (b)(5) of this section. (3) Any structure or enclosure for the shelter of animals shall be located not less than 150 feet from any street or lot line. (4) Fences for pens, corral fences or similar enclosures must be of a sufficient height and strength to retain animals. All poultry shall be properly penned and contained. Barbed-wire fences are permitted in A-1 districts as set forth in subsection (e)(5) of this section. |
