Garden Betty's Member Page

My name is Linda Ly, and I run an award-winning blog called Garden Betty. (Country Living magazine honored me with their first-ever Blue Ribbon Blogger Award for best gardening blog!) I write about starting, growing and harvesting organic edibles of all kinds, as well as pickling, jam-making and recipe-concocting with my harvests — all with a little outdoor adventure peppered in.
I live in a little-known old town on a beautiful, semi-remote coastline of Los Angeles. My edible garden is a 3,000-plus square foot farmlette of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and now three happy hens! (Well, we don't eat the hens, but we do love their eggs!)

My fiance and I built our own tiki-inspired coop to house Kimora (our leading lady, a Barred Rock), Iman (a Golden Laced Cochin), and Gisele (an Easter Egger). These long-legged, sassy supermodels moved in on November 15, 2011, as 14-week-old pullets. They often free-range in the backyard and are sometimes accompanied by our two pugs!
Not only do they enjoy our weeds, but also a buffet of buckwheat, rape, clover and nasturtiums, which we've planted in a salad bar in the raised bed next to their coop.
