Maynard Massachusetts Chicken Ordinance
By: LareePQGMaynard Massachusetts Chicken OrdinanceAre Chickens Allowed in this location Yes Max Chickens Allowed Up to the local animal inspector, and the location you are keeping them. Roosters Allowed Yes Permit Required No Coop Restrictions The coop plans have to be evaluated by the town animal inspector and building inspector. City/Organization Contact name Thomas Natoli- Animal Inspector (978)897-1011. Which is the police station, who will then page him for you. Additional Information The Structure for the chicken coop has to follow the town\'s building guidelines. The Animal Inspector then will review the plans with the town\'s building inspector. Once that passes, he will need to come to your property and evaluate the area you are keeping them in. The Animal Inspector is basically in full control of what you are allowed to have because there is no rules/laws on how many you can have and whether or not you can have roosters, the amount is based on the structure that is approved. As for roosters, you can have them however if someone complains it\'s a heavy fine, and he suggested against it, but can not tell you not to have one. These are the town guidelines for a building: 22.2.2: Building A structure, whether portable or fixed, with exterior walls or firewalls and a roof, built, erected, or framed of a combination of any materials, to form shelter for persons, animals, or property. See structure below. 22.2.7: Structure A combination of materials assembled at a fixed location to give support or shelter such as a building (see above) framework, retaining wall, reviewing stand, platform, bin, fence, sign, flagpole, recreational tramway, or mast for an antenna, or the like. http://www.townofmaynard-ma.gov/Pages/MaynardMA_Clerk/ApptElectOfficials Link for more Information http://www.townofmaynard-ma.gov/Pages/MaynardMA_BOS/town-bylaws.pdf Information Last Updated 2010-03-22 00:00:00 NOTE: This information was submitted by a member of our chicken forum.
