Morris Coop

After looking through every coop on here we found one we liked and wanted to model ours after to a point.  It is made out of a 4 x 4 base and a whole bunch of 2x2's and cedar pickets.  We custom made the windows and chose to go with the corrugated metal roofing to reflect heat more.

 Hope you enjoy

Almost the finished product

In this picture we have moved the coop into its final position, ready to start adding the siding and the roof.

Here we are beginning the siding using cedar pickets.  Instead of one large nesting box we decided to make six individual, have know idea if it

will matter or not but its the direction we went

There's the back side done, time to move around

The front, almost done since the left side is mainly two windows

So the siding is complete and I now have the roof in place.  Not a huge fan of installing the metal corrugated roofing but we thought it was the right choice for our coop.  Starting to work on the nesting doors, changed those a couple of time during the building process.

The paint is going on and it is starting to take shape.  This is the view from the left side of the coop through our custom made plexi glass windows.

The nesting box and doors are basically done, just some detailed work left and our coop is almost done.

Here are the girls with their new home.  We went the sand rout after reading about how good it is on their feet and how easy to clean it is.  So far I agree 100%  I have never built anything like this before and have learned a lot of what to do and what not to do.  It was an enjoyable experience and my kids are loving going out and catching bugs to give to the chicks.  It's keeping them off the TV, couch and video games.  It has been a very positive family experience.  Now we get to enjoy watching the chicks grow and we can't wait until that first egg!

Thank you, there is still plenty of tweaks that need to take place but overall we have really enjoyed putting it together and watching the girls grow.
