Chicken Saddle 1 Chicken Saddle 2

Chicken Saddle 1: 4 inches wide at the top                               Chicken Saddle 2: This one came from elle and

Use a soft wide elastic over wings
or it will slide off easily.                                                         It's a no sew made of fleece.

#2-Ella says--Yeah, my polar fleece one works with no elastic or seams, just make sure you measure accurately so it fits snuggly without being tight- not as complicated as it sounds. Put the measuring tape on the hen's back between her wings and measure to the base of the tail than subtract about an inch.

Fold your fabric in half and trace an oval wide enought to cover her flanks and cut out the wing and tail holes. It's such a simple pattern it's easy to mess around with until you get it the way you want it. Good Luck!

Hi,
Approximately how long is the saddle from the top squared off portion to where is starts, to where is flares for the body (middle portion)? Also, is it lined, or just one thickness of fabric?
My chickens are only about 3 weeks old, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared. It'll be nice to have a stylish garment ready for them when they moult (sp) - HA!! No roosters here - yet.
Thanks in advance for the info.
Sheila
