The Motorcycle Crate Coop

Wife and I found this great deal on motorcycle shipping crates on Craigslist. A 4x8 wooden crate for $75!

Wife and I found this great deal on a motorcycle shipping crate on craigslist. A 4x8 solid wood crate for only $75!

The finished coop

The finished coop has a 4x4 large door on the front which swings open for easy cleaning.

Getting the chickens in the finished coop

Getting the chickens in the finished coop is harder than we expected. I tried to put seed on the ground so they could follow the trail inside. Any other suggestions on getting the chickens to willingly use the coop?

Not a Five Star coop, but fits within my budget and limited carpentry skills : )
I love it--throw some meal worms up the ramp--they should go after those!
Nice! To get them to roost in there at night you'll need to keep them inside it for a couple days/nights. Make sure they don't cook-your coop should have good ventilation. Good luck!
MontanaMomma , the ventilation at the top under the roof is okay for Oregon weather. It seems to be cool and rain here most of the year. I may add a window (covered with wire) at some point to make it look nicer : )
I bet that adding a window will help them wanting to get inside too!
