Wall In Coop - Coop and Run Construction....page 6
Coop and Run Construction....page 6
My dear husband proved to get too stressed out while helping me build the run, so I insisted on building the inside of the coop ALONE! I used recycled materials for the inside, except for the top 2X4 that was a left over from the run construction.

For the most part, I only had battery powered tools to use... and that stinks. The batteries never lasted long and to try and use a battery operated circular saw? yikes! It took forever to cut things. We have an electric circular saw, just no blades. I managed though....

It's starting to look like a stall /coop area now.

The first roosts and nest box.
(and still no shavings for the floor)

Yep, he decided it was good enough for them. This was the first night. Sleeping arrangements changed after a few nights, and Rusty and Midnight took the higher roost.

Then we introduced the new girls after a quarantine period. They slept with Rusty and Midnight. Midnight didn't like it, but ole Rusty did!

I have since changed that roost and made it wider... now they ALL sleep on it. (except Midnight because she is sitting on eggs.)

Here is Rusty's new roost. I made him a higher one

And for Rose, I made step style roosts, because he likes to roost up super high! Here you can see the girl's using the roosts as I intended, as steps. No one taught them, they figured it out all on their own!
The roosts that I can reach are attached with wood screws so that I can take them out once in a while and hose and scrape them down!

The nest boxes. These are TOTALLY recycled pieces of wood, but as you can see, Midnight deemed them worthy enough to sit on eggs. Sadly, her eggs are not fertile. I still need to tweak the other nest box and make it more sturdy.
