Want Chickens

Hi, I'm new to all of this!  I am getting ready to raise chickens for the first time. Do people ever just pick them up @ the feed store. It's so cheap.  I'm figuring at least $50.00 to start with 25 chicks if you order them. Is this about normal or is there a specific place to order chicks?
