Hi Peeps! 

Welcome to the new & upgraded version of the BackYardChickens.com website!  (If you have no idea what happened or why, read our post: HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT - BYC SOFTWARE CONVERSION )

There are a ton of exciting new features and areas of the site for you to explore.  To help get started we suggest you watch this video that walks through the main parts of the site, especially the forum:

If you were a member of the old site, here are a few of the most popular pages and their locations on the new site:

Where are “My Pages”?

We’ve put all the pages created by our members together here: Member Pages.  To see a list of all the pages you’ve created, or a list of pages created by another member, follow these steps:

1. Go to your profile, or the user’s profile
2. Scroll down to “Activity Feed”
3. De-select “Breeds & Supplies” “Forum” & “Profile” so that only “Articles” has a green dot.  This will show all your pages / articles (or those of the member you’ve selected).
4. You should see something like this:

We have a handful of areas you can go for lots of information about the new site:

Picture, Images, Galleries, & Albums

The new site supports albums in which you can place and organize your photos. We’ve transferred all your images from the old site to the new site and have put them into a Private album called “Uploads”.  

You can read through instructions on How To Insert Pics On The New BYC.

Check out this video that goes over the different albums and also covers how to upload and manage images.

This is my first time ever on BYC, where should I go now?

If you’ve never been to BYC before, we highly suggest you visit the following: REQUIRED & SUGGESTED READING FOR THE BYC FORUM

I found a bug / saw an error, what do I do?

If If you’re having problems with the new site:

First, look through our list of current bugs to see if it has already been reported: Bugs & Problems With The New Platform

If it hasn’t been reported, then  we need VERY specific details so we can reproduce the problem and find a solution.   Saying, “I can’t login” or “I got an error” or “I can’t upload pictures” will not be enough information for us to help you.

Here are the absolutely required questions we need you to answer if you are having problems on the site:

•  What happened that you didn’t expect, or didn’t happen that you expected?

•  What is the URL of the page where you had a problem and/or saw an error?

•  Did you receive any error messages?  If yes, what were they?  Please copy and paste the entire message, screenshots are best

•  What were the exact steps you took before having problems?  Please be as specific as possible so we reproduce exactly what you did.
