Hi, and thanks for visiting! I live in Forest Grove, Oregon - a relatively small town about 45 minutes west of Portland. Forest Grove passed their chicken ordinance last year allowing 4 chickens on property of 5,000 square feet and 1 extra chicken for every 2,000 square feet after that. I couldn't be more thrilled. My backyard flock consists of 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Barred Rock and 2 Easter Eggers. I would love to show you pictures, however, I am having a dickens of a time trying to post them. All pictures were taken with an Iphone and don't seem to be in a recognized format at this point. But I'll keep trying! Anyway, as of this writing, the girls are about 13 to 14 weeks old and very silly. Well, thanks for checking in. Check back in the future and I'll had some stories and hopefully, HOPEFULLY, some pictures. Have a great day !
Update: Girls are 19 weeks old. Still no eggs but they have been visiting the nest box lately. Exciting stuff

Update: Girls are 26 weeks and have been laying for about a month. They're doing really well, even though not all the eggs are laid IN the nest box.

Update: Girls are 7 months old now. Three are laying. Buffy has taken the last two weeks off but appears to be totally healthy. It's getting cold here at night. When they go up to roost the two EEs tuck themselves in under the BO and the BR! Pretty smart for bird brains :)

Update: They are nearly 9 months old now. Buffy wasn't laying because she was headed into a molt, of all things at her young age. She's still not laying, but at least she appears to be almost done with the molting business. Now, Sookie, one of the EEs is molting and looking mighty homely, poor thing. At least the other two have continued laying like champs...oh, but wait, they haven't laid an egg in the last two days. Bunch of freeloaders! I've got four eggs left now for holiday baking. Oh well, only 90 days till spring.

Jan 17, 2012 - It's been a long, long time since I've written here. The girls are in their second winter now. All is well. Maybe with this new format I'll be able to actually add photos to my page. Who knows...?
