And the final extension to limit the free-ranging to a few hours at the end of the day.  A small closable tunnel leads from it to underneath the kid's trampoline to give the birdies a much bigger roaming area and some extra shady outside from the summer sun:

It all started out so small:

Thanks Parkerpeeps, and Scrappy is doing great now!
Congratulations, we've chosen one of your chicken pics for the Picture Of the Week. Thanks for posting your chickens to our "My Chickens" pages! You can find more info about our POW here: BYC POW process.

I love seeing the baby/grownup pictures together. Obviously, you all do love your birds very much. And must say Dahlia is such a beauty! Thank you for posting these.
What a lovely way to start my Sunday! Looking at your chicks/chickens brought a smile to my face. I love your Dahlia! I am hankering for a Jubilee Orpington that looks, at least to my untrained eyes, very similar to the Speckled Sussex.
Great pictures. We have two Cuckoo Marans x Dominique pullets that are the spitting image of Cookie. They are only 9 weeks old, but I can't wait to see what their eggs look like. And I love the paint treatment on the coop.
Wow!! Such pretty birds!! Love the story about them!!
Love the chicks and the colourful coop.
nice hens and a very cool coop, Love it!
poor Scrappy, what are you giving her during her molt, I know there is a plumage supplement made for cage birds, I wonder if it would work for her
have 2 mandarin ducks that are loosing feathers around neck. Do you think they are molting?
really like your setup. looks good
Thanks, poultryman, still working out the kinks I discover as I go along :)
dianabel: It sure sounds like it but I'm not a duck man yet! YET!
Thanks all for the nice comments! Unfortunately, just yesterday, Dahlia passed away :( No signs of any problems or predation, just went in her sleep.
So Sorry to hear about your Dahlia ); (tears). Your birds are beautiful and the pain job on you coop gives me inspiration to do something other than just one color. I love it! Again, my condolences.
