Little Red Hen Coop I am trying to write this information as simple as I can. Built this coop after looking at several member's coops and their details and ideas. So we are grateful to those who take time to post pictures and information. Loopy Coop is just reference to the children's book we have called 'The Loopy Coop Hens'. My husband calls it the chicken palace but that name was already taken. The idea for this coop was taken from a couple others on BYC but slightly enlarged as well as a design I had seen somewhere else online. I bought this for my mother since she has 8 hens from /www.greengardenchicken.com for under $900 and it came with free delivery too her house. Not bad for tractor with run and plenty of room for more than 10 hens. So far its been great for 8 hens but my mother wants to get 5 more hens to total of 13 hens in summer. My hubby and I decided that we wanted to have chickens, so we went to TS to buy some chicks. After getting the girls, we decided we needed a coop (probably a little backwards) :) Hubby is quite handy and has lots of tools so we decided to build a fabulous coop and run for our new chickies. we are brand new to raising chickens but now that my fiance' and I live on a couple acres we decided it would be great to start! We wanted to try a simple coop design so we went with an A-Frame Coop. We used a couple 2x8 and some scrap plywood we had in our barn to begin the coop.
