Cluckridge Farm Chicken Coop

Cluckridge Farm Chicken Coop Unfortunately we did not create a blueprint ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~ We spent less than $20 on this brooder and light for 5 chicks   We began our coop project in March of this year, about a week after we got our chicks from the local Hay & Feed. My husband finally gave into owning backyard chickens, based on the fact that he got to build something. We researched BYC coops for about a month and came up with our own plans. We (my husband did most of the digging)... read more

Here's our coop progress!  DH is an awesome builder of great things! So of course, our chickens will have a palace    We scoured the fabulous BYC coop pages & the internet...DH bought the Chicken Coops for Dummies book & we came up with the basic design and adding alot of making up as we go along... The coop is 8 x 10 & about 7' high in the front and 5' in the back. The run is 8 x 24 (including the area under the coop)             After several arguments, we finally decided to put the coop where I want it...hehe  Added some dirt to level a bit...ran a water line from... read more

Hensandchickscolorado's Chicken Coop

The Chicken Lounge! After years of deliberating, I decided that it was time for my four year old daughter and I to have a few chickens in our small backyard in Englewood, Colorado, a suburb of Denver.  I started out thinking that I'd get a little Eglu or something similar, have a nice pair of hens, and that would be it.  However, after delving deeper and deeper into chicken world, well, here's what we wound up with!  The process was a lot of fun.  I started out with this space behind my garage: After realizing I wanted a decent-sized coop, and admitting to myself... read more

Stevenson's Chicken Coop

and so the insanity begins...  You can follow my progress at http://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=456460&p=1 I was offered this old building that my grandfather built years ago.  It is approximately 8'x12' in size. The exterior is rough, but the interior and roof are in fantastic shape.   My design concept for how to convert the old shed into a coop.  I am not sure Ihave shown enough ventilation.  I am sure I will add more, although I am concernedabout too much to the high winds that we get.  Unfortunately the AutoCAD drawingdidn't copy... read more

Happyclams's Chicken Coop

I have been asking and trying to get chickens for at least five years.  For my birthday this year my wife decided she was ready for chickens!    We got two Ameraucana (Hemingway and Mr.Greene) and one Plymouth Barred Rock (Imelda).  After the ladies were a couple weeks old, I got to work on building a coop (later than I should have).  I was going to build from the ground up, but then we got the idea to convert an existing "box structure" to a coop.    An old hutch/entertainment center seemed to be big enough for us, with existing doors to clean it out and side... read more

Our Pallet Coop Duplex

Our Pallet Coop we built in the spring of 2008. It is approximately 4' w x 18' long, with two seperate coops (each approximately 9' long) as it's divided down the middle. Each side is a mirror copy of the other, except for the outdoor runs, which were built around an older smaller raised coop. In the photo above, we turned the pallets on the right side sideways so they were not as tall as the pallets standing upright on the left side. The pallets run continuous on the left side, and the pop doors will be cut out later. On the right side, we left a large enough... read more
