Freezer Bator

Freezer-Bator  Heres the beginning of the freezer-bator, in the top it has 2 computer fans, a heating element out of an old incubator my m.i.l. had. In the back is a thermostat. We added a shelf to hold the fans and to block direct heat on the eggs. All those wires were tucked away, this was a pic of it in the works.  In the bottom you can see a white light bulb and wire bent to make a hatcher.  Under the hatcher i placed a glass baking pan, and filled it with water. The wires were all tucked away.... and i added a non slip shelf liner for the babies when they hatch, and... read more

AL's Homemade cabinet Incubator My chicken intrest have gotten to the point where I thought that I would like to try my hand at Incubating some eggs. My wife said that since it would have to be in the house that it should at least look pretty nice, So I had to figure out how to design a furniture grade cabinet Incubator, that also would have all of the neat bells and whistles that I thought I would like to have. The following is what the finished product looks like.Features :3 large viewing windows, 1... read more

Homemade Incubator

Dandies Handy Hatching Emporium   This non-working commercial refrigerator had a price I could not argue with...   FREE!  All I had to do was bring the trailer and they even loaded it.  This definitely proves that one man's junk is another's treasure.  Not pictured is the original glass doors.  One is filled with condensation.  I plan to fix it but that will be a later project.  Right now I NEED a reliable bator and I can deal that issue later.  My dreams include multiple shelves of egg turners with a little hatching nursery on the top shelf.  My little fuzzy butts will... read more

Birdbrain's Better Bator

Birdbrain's Better Bator Okay, I realize that is a bit presumptuous, but it rhymed, so I went with it.  After all, having a homemade bator is "better" than having none at all. About a year ago we ordered some beef from a grass-fed beef outfit in Amarillo, TX.  When the order came, we were happy with the meat, but I was THRILLED about the big thick Styrofoam cooler that it came in.  I immediately thought of building an incubator and squirreled it away for the future when I could persuade my DH to let me make and use an incubator.  The kids knew that the big white cooler... read more

Homemade Incubator With Digital Thermostat And Auto Turn Control

Home made cabinet style incubator with digital thermostat and digital auto turn control I Had an idea bouncing around in my head for a while of how I could build a auto turn for a cabinet machine, My wife would tell you that the idea had a heap of room for bouncing in Well the only way to give a an idea a chance is to start building so this is what I came up with. A lot of this machine was built on the fly so to speak. As I hit a snag I thought about it and worked out a fix.In all I estimate that it took close to 4 weeks to build the aluminium rack, design and build the... read more

The Jenki-Bator--front viewThe temperatures are stable with 1 degree range of 99.5.  I am having to work hard to raise the humidity for day 18-21.The hole in the front of the eggs was for my attept at an egg turner, it didn't work as expected!  Notice the web cam in the upper left.  This allows me to check temperature and humidity from home(I keep it in my office). My First Chick!!!The First Flock, Hatched 14 of 16 fertile eggs(2 not fertlized)   read more

Lolliegee's Chicken Incubator

Lolliegee's Page  Here's my submission for the Incubator Contest: I started with Bock_Bock's idea for modifying an aquarium. I don't really expect to win, just thought it was kinda cool. I started out by trying to use the original lid and lights for the aquarium. It had two 25 watt bulbs but they just didn't warm things up enough. I ended up getting an adjustable desk lamp ($11 and change from Wal-Mart) that holds a 60 watt bulb. I covered the top with heavy clear vinyl and cut a hole out for the light and another smaller hole so I could adjust the humidity. I also... read more
