Ace Coop - Progress Pictures Included!

The idea of getting some chickens started to get tossed around last fall. We had just bought a house with 4 acres and thought chickens would be a lot of fun to have around. Not to mention having fresh eggs. When winter started my husband starting clearing some of our land for a garden. With in a few month we extended the project to include clearing some land for a chicken coop.   I spent some time on the BYC website looking at other coops and reading about things that worked and did not work for other people. Once the land was clear and all the wood was stacked my... read more

Ddrlonghorns's Chicken Coop

Our Chicken Palace After losing far too many chickens to coyotes (and quite possibly hawks), I opted to add an attached run to our existing coop thus forcing our chickens to live in a 6 x 10 coop with a 10 x 10 run attached.  While I didn't lose any of my girls, they were clearly not happy with their living conditions. Thus began the quest for a new home for my chicken friends.  Before I get started, I want to thank Arianna on BYC for her inspirational coop.  My husband, on the other hand, wants to send her a bill :) My original coop design called for a 40 x 40 space... read more

Bayoupoules's Chicken Coop

Hello and Welcome to our BYC "Building the Coop" page. We have so enjoyed the many wonderful BYC pages and pictures that we wanted to share ours too! We are a Christian homeschooling family of three that started our chicken adventure, like many on BYC, as a school project and an addition to a more sustainable lifestyle. I am a retired x-ray tech and now a Homeschool Mom and Brian is an Electrician at the local hospital and a Navy Seabee Reservist of 25 years. When Brian started a chicken coop,. I wasn't expecting the great coop he built,. and Olivia (DD 16) and I ( and... read more

Amenning's Chicken Coop

Coop De Ville      After moving to the county and wanting to start raising some of our own eggs and meat I decided we needed a coop.  During the design and construction, the "coop" ended up looking closer to a miniature barn.  This project has ended up taking more time and money then originally intended but I am pleased with the results.  There are still a few things that need to be finished up but I will post what has been done so far.      I have always loved the look of old barns, especially the ones with curved roofs.  I scoured the interned finding all the... read more
