How Do You Make A Chicken Feeder In Less Than 60 Seconds For Free?

How do you make a Chicken feeder in less than 60 seconds for FREE?   Do you or any of your friends ever go to Costco and buy those 100 pack of blank DVDs and then you have that plastic container left?    step 1: cut holes. Avoid damaging the tabs that stick out. These tabs will be used to screw into the base.   step 2: Screw the top into the base. Place on plate/wide bowl with a lip.   step 3: feed hungry birds   These are so cheap you can have 3 or 4 of them in your coop. For me, this worked perfect for 8 of my 3 week old chicks. It's fantastic because you... read more

Nipple Waterer for my Brooder

Nipple Waterer for my Brooder Apparently I have a preference... or affinity for Nipple waterers.  This one happened by accident on my part.  I had picked up a Stoneware water cooler stand at a local thrift store.  I didn't need the cooler pot, but it came as a set.  DH noticed it would hold plenty of water for the new brooder we just set up for 8 chicks.  With two layers of pipe tape, the nipple fit perfectly into the spigot.  No drilling, cutting, or reaming necessary. The mechanism had to be removed so that the internal portion of the nipple could function, but we... read more

Nipple Watering System

Here are some photos of my nipple watering system.   I connected the PVC pipe to Rubbermaid shelve brackets via hose clamps.  I then attached the Rubbermaid track to the wall and now I can adjust the height if the system as the chickens grow.  The blue valve on the right side of the PVC pipe can be used as a drain to change the water or it can be used as part of the water circulating system (see below).   The cooler, or "water storage tank" is connected to the PVC pipe via rubber hose (threaded barbed fittings on bottom of cooler and end of PVC pipe).  During the... read more
