Rooster or hen

Hello! We currently have 4 red Rangers that are approximately 4 months old. One looks like it would be a rooster but does not have Spurs and it does not crow or even try to. I know they are a cross between 2 chickens so is it possible that it is a female and just looks different then the others? It does seems a little more aggressive but not a down right mean.

As you can see the one looks different then the others. There is one that is getting a brighter comb as well so I can't figure out if it's a hen or not.

That's a cockerel. Those long, thin feathers near the base of the tail are male only saddle feathers. He also has the classic rooster red shoulder patches.

Thank you! I was hoping it wasn't a rooster because it doesn't have Spurs and he doesn't crow. My hubby says no roosters.

Spurs don't start to develop until after 5 months old and can take over a year to grow. It's not uncommon for a cockerel to not crow until 5 or 6 months.

Thanks so much everyone. After posting this and getting responses I was outside this morning and heard him trying to crow. If I would have waited one more day I would have known.... Now to find someone to take him because my daughter would be devastated if we don't re-home him.
