One of my hens just went broody. She has laid an egg a day for the last 17 days. Her and my rooster are especially close but I've never seen him mount her. Although they are good friends and I've seen him try, there hasn't been one instance where he was successful. However, I usually work days so I can't watch them all day so hopefully her eggs are fertilized or she will be sitting for nothing.

What are the chances that her eggs are fertilized? Can chickens store sorry til they need it or each egg fertilized when chickens mate?

If you roaster is older than a 1 year old, he is most likely breeding her. Candle the eggs after a week and see if any are developing and you will know for sure.
