Protein percentages

I'm new to keeping and breeding quail, I wanted to know if you guys thought what I heard on the web was true. Supposedly you can add cat food to birdseed to raise protein levels, in my case, a 9% protein wild birdseed, to a 18% + level by using catfood, (which is over 30% protein) and mixing it in.

Cat food has too much fat in it for quail. You are better off buying game bird or turkey starter.

Cat food is a good temporary supplement. I wouldn't try to make my own feed tho. Different feeds are formulated for complete nutrition. The turkey starter is the closest feed I can find around me.
