Guinea calls

Hi- We just purchased 7 guineas that are 12 weeks old. One of them makes the buckwheat call but I haven't seen any of the others do it. Does anyone know if that would mean I only have one hen out of the 7? Or is there typically a dominant hen that squawks? Any ideas?

What it means is that you definitely have one hen. Not all hens begin calling that young. You may or may not have more hens, as they near breeding season next spring you will have a much better idea how many hens that you have.

Thanks for asking this! I have 20 7-week-olds and perhaps 2 or 3 are calling so I was getting worried that somehow I ended up with a whole lot of males!
