Can u give chicks a bath

I don't know if I should give my chicks a bath they are about 4 weeks old should I?

Why would you want to give them a bath? Generally chickens are not bathed except for a show or certain health situations.

Because they keep getting poop on themselves and they try to peck it off but the pull a lot of feathers off with it.

If they have pasty butt, you can rinse off their backsides with some warm water - think baby bottle temperature. Make sure you towel dry them well and put them somewhere warm until they are completely dry.

For most other things, just provide them with a dust bath and they will do the rest. Most young chicks will dust bathe in the shavings in the brooder, but you can provide them with some clean sand, or a mixture of equal parts of wood ash, sand and peat moss. Put it in a container big enough for a few of them to get in at a time - dust bathing is a group activity for chickens. They will love it!
