We ordered all male cornish rocs but we have a couple that look like this. The rest are all big red combs and waddles. They are 8 weeks old and i wouldn't mind trying to keep a hen. Whatcha think? Is this a SHE?

Additionally, in order to have hope of keeping them beyond the processing age would have required starting modified feeding practices well before this age/size.

You can get a huge variety in comb and wattle development in male chicks. Pullets too for that matter. Some just mature a lot earlier than others in size, behaviors and appearance. Yes, even though the others look like that, I agree that is a male. It’s not just the color of the comb and wattles but the size of both, especially the wattles. At 8 weeks a pullet just won’t look like that.

Regardless of gender, Cornish Rocks are not a long-lived breed. They are bred for rapid growth, and both males and females are ready for processing at 8 to 10 weeks. It's rare for a pullet to live long enough to produce eggs.
