I'm incubating chicks for the first time I had one hatch last night how long do I leave the baby chicks in the incubator before I take them out?

Hi Melissa,

If it is dry and fluffy you can take it out, but don't be afraid of leaving them in for a day or so. The cheeping and flopping around can encourage other eggs to hatch if you are still waiting.

Good luck!

I had an early bird as well this hatch, and left it in around 12-18 hours or so until the second one hatched and it started walking all over it. Pulled it out really quickly so the new one could get some rest.

Others might tell you to leave it in and not open the bator, but if your humidity is good and your incubator recovers quickly, I find no problem opening it for a few seconds.

The chick up is pecking at the other eggs should I take him out so the chick doesnt bother the ones trying to hatch?
