In the Brooder
Hello! My fiancé and I started with hatching a few guineas on our own. A skunk killed them. So we hatched more. These ones joined our neighbors flock. So then we bought 25. Somehow we inherited 5 more. We gave 10 to my parents. Now we have 14. But in the meantime, my future mother in law gave us a rooster and a hen. The rooster picked on the hen so much she changed to a roo as well. So we got rid of them. We then were given two bantams and two buff orpingtons. The one bantam laid on eggs and hatched her two bantam eggs but none of the buff eggs she sat on were fertile. So to replace the babies who didn't hatch we got three light barhmas. Then my future mil had her hen go broody but had already taken her eggs. So we drove two hours to get ameruacana eggs. Included were some barred rocks. My mil took four eggs and I got 8. So now I have 3 ameruacanas three barred rocks and two more bantams that my mil slipped in there... Total chicken count: 17 and 14 guineas. Now to make matters worse my future cousin in law had a friend who rescued 5 chicks from tractor supply before they killed them. Guess who has them now??? And they're silkies... So were up to 22 chickens... Oh boy! Thank goodness we have the property for it! And that the neighbors don't mind when the Guineas visit.
