Lost 5 brand new chicks to a snake last night.

I had a broody hen hatch 5 eggs Sunday night into Monday and a snake took all 5 chicks overnight last night. Needless to say I'm not a happy camper. I did a little research on here and found that a minnow trap baited with an egg should be a good way to catch the snake. I built one after work today and just finished setting it out. My question is this. How long before I can expect it to come back. Don't they only eat every so often? I know that if I have one snake I definitely have many more most likely. In fact I killed one last week that had killed (but couldn't eat) two of my six week old chicks. Any input would be appreciated.

I suggest Keeping the Eggs and Chicks in a Enclosed area so the Snake can't get in. You can also get a snake Repellent
