I have never seen this before. I hope it is normal in some way. Every hen seems fine. It had thick tissue around some yolk and a tough fibrous piece like an umbilical cord.

I think its like an egg that half hatched half developed... but this is very odd. I will leave it for the experts at chickens.

It seems like part of the hen actually came out. Wondering if this is what can happen after a hen is egg bound???

Was she egg bound?
How old are birds?
Is that last pic was was inside red round thing or attached to fibrous piece?
Was round red thing full of yolk?

I'd be looking at vents to see what I could see.
It could be a very odd one off....or could be a major anatomical malfunction.

I don't know if she was egg bound. Everyone seemed fine. I don't know which hen laid this.
They are all under 2 years old.
The red part was the inside view of the whole fibrous piece. there was yolk inside it.
With more research I am thinking maybe a lash egg??? It looks like some of the photos.
Salpingitis - either viral or bacterial. Since everyone is doing fine, I will wait and watch.
Here is an article about it. http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2015/03/causes-of-lash-eggs-salpingitis-by.html
