After an collet egg is laid how long can it stay fresh (eatable) before being collected. Once in a while when I collect eggs daily I miss some because don't always lay in the nest so it may have been 3 or 4 days before they are noticed. After cracking an egg how can tell if it is spoiled?

You can put all your eggs in a bowl of water and the ones that float are not fresh enough to eat. But after you crack it, the only way to know if something is wrong is if it smells really bad!
Generally speaking, eggs that have been outside for three or four days should be thrown out. If it's really hot or cold, they can only last a day or less outside.
