So I decided to buy 4 chicks on February 22nd. I figured I had until September before I needed the nesting boxes. Came home today after leaving the house early and went to check on/say hello to the girls...now there are 3 (one was a he). Well, I almost literally cried! So do I need to switch food..currently on crumble? I just added grit and calcium/oyster shell last weekend because they ate the dust bath. Any advice now that 1 of the 3 is laying would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Now what? I'd say probably advance the timetable on getting nesting boxes in.

3 girls, one roo, and only one is laying? Stay on starter grower feed or all flock. But, add calcium on the side (oyster shell).

Other than that, be happy!!! It's all coming together. Again, congrats!

I actually gave the rooster away as I live in Richardson city limits..DFW. They have all started hanging in the coop more. I have nesting boxes, but they have been covered to prevent them from sleeping inside of them.
