we were given chickens 2 months ago. about 1 1/2 yrs old..1 of them is bald underneath..i assume NOT mulching?. because we do not have loose feathers in the coop or run and were the feathers use to be looks to be heald.like it's been bald there for a while..i don't see the previous owners at all so I can't ask them of it.other than that she seems really healthy. pretty white strong sheeled egg a day. beautiful feathers. all though she can act like a jerk sometimes(a lot :)..any idea of the baldness and if I should worry about winter times..we live on the north western California coast..no snow but can get freezing.AND wet :)

Most hens develop a bald spot on their underside from sitting on eggs in the nestboxes. Your hen is old enough to molt, so she will quit laying within the next few months to do so. Most molt anytime from August to December.

I just assumed auto correct was doing it's stuff again.
