We have been dealing with a rat problem and we've had to resort to poison in a secured box so chickens can't get to it. I'm just concerned about disease and eating he eggs. My husband has cleaned the coup but we know we still have rats because they are still taking the bait. Is it still safe for us to eat the eggs or so we wait until we are sure rats are gone?

I would personally wait till the rats are gone for sure just for safety but make sure there is no food around that will attract them good luck

Rats are always around...I get rid of them as much as I can, but have no problem with eating my duck eggs... I would never eat raw eggs....

Yep, rats are most likely always around in some numbers. Mice too. I keep poison out almost all the time.
Keep rat poison outside the run in a secured way so rats/mice can get it but pets & the chicken cant. Set some snap traps the same way, rat & mouse size, with peanut butter for bait.
