domestic mallard duck

so I have a couple of questions


1: can you keep mallards as pets ? (because I don't see many mallard ducks for sale )
2:my mallard is 4~5 months old and isn't laying yet, what age do they lay at ?

they lay around 18-24 weeks i think. you can keep pretty much any duck as a pet, some breeds are just better. places like tsc sell mallard ducklings if you want to get some more

You can keep domestically raised Mallards. Meaning you can't go catch a wild Mallard or take eggs from a nest. Hatcheries and breeders are supposed to somehow mark their ducklings to show they were hatched domestically, like punching a hole in the web.

I'm going to assume you are sure your Mallard is a hen. Mallards are sesonal layers and they lay a lot less eggs than other domestic breeds. That is probably why they aren't as popular at feed stores. Plus they are much smaller so people don't raise them for meat either. It is very likely your duck won't lay till spring.

Yes you can keep domesticated Mallards. They should be marked by the hatcheries. I have 2 Mallard hens. Fyi they can fly, they may even try to fly off. You can clip wings if needed. I adore my 2, they are trouble makers, lol.
