First egg!

We have been waiting patiently, and today sweet Pepper laid an egg for us! She actually seemed proud, is that possible? Never knew an egg could be so beautiful

It truly is a great feeling....from raising them as day old chicks to the waiting and waiting until one day you find that first surprise in the nest box. Some folks poke a tiny pin hole in each end and blow out the contents and keep the intact shell as a memento. Enjoy and congrats!

It never gets old with new pullets......My Bantam was the first to lay...6 green eggs so far....My Danish finally sort of laid an yolk on the floor from the roost...She is in a box again right now....Crazy things happen when pullets first start laying.....
