What kind of pvc glue to use?

I am making my own waterer. My mom bought some Christys Red hot blue glue but it seems so bad. Are all pvc glue's so toxic smelling?

Anyway, I was just wondering what any of you who made your own waterer used.

You can use silicone to make it water proof.....Not sure how it would be in freezing temps though?

I used "Weld On 704 PVC" glue for my waterer. Smells chemical-ish going on but it's odorless once it dries and I haven't had any leaking problems. Not sure how it'll hold up in freezing temperatures though, this is my first year with chickens.
