I just let my chickens out to freerange, and noticed all 4 had blood on the front of their beaks. It seems to be dried out, but they all got it withing a 2 hour gap. Is this a disease? My theory is that they saw a cricket or something outside of their run, and all tried to reach the wire to get it.

Can you post a photo?

Do you see any one hunching, puffing, sneezing, or wheezing?

Any one with exposed tissue that could have been pecked?

I read that they ALL have this on their beaks? Could they have killed and eaten a rat?

Having trouble getting a picture, but I'm pretty sure they didn't eat a rat. Every once in a while they would shake their head but they stopped doing that when I checked on them about 2 minutes ago. Its almost a scab now, but ALL of them have it (I have 4 chickens)
