Bloody mucous on walls a sure sign of ILT?

Before I go and cull my bird, anyone know if bloody mucous is a for sure sign of ILT or could it possibly be a mild sinus infection? I originally had thought maybe Coryza or MG. Swollen face, eye swollen shut, some gasping and lethargy. This evening I found bloody mucous on the walls.

I'm so sorry

Is she struggling to breath? (extending neck to breath)
Any coughing?
Any gurgling (wet breathing sounds)?

To be honest there is no way to know for sure if it is ILT without testing.
The bloody mucous is very concerning and yes, it is one of the major "symptoms" of ILT.

Any chance she has a cut inside her beak or anywhere else that could have bled and gotten mixed with the mucous.

She was gasping a bit this afternoon. No coughing or gurgling... Mainly lethargy, very swollen face and runny nose/beak. Now she also has the dripping mucous. I am going to look in her throat right now. Hopefully it is not ILT and maybe some kind of a pox that she can recover from? I would hate to cull her.

Check her throat. Everything I see says coughing mucous or blood. Not to say the mucous can't be bloody in the initial stages, especially since she was healthy and older to begin with.

Your other thread reads more like MG (Mycoplasma).

Very swollen face - does she have any pus in the sinus? Could it be so infected it is bloody?

Good news! I told the breeder about the bloody mucous and wanting to get a state lab test done just to figure out what in the world is going on. She is taking the flock back to have them checked and treated. I am so relieved! I was losing sleep and just super stressed out worrying over these girls. Now I feel like they might have a real chance for recovery as long as it's not ILT or Coryza, etc....

Good news! I told the breeder about the bloody mucous and wanting to get a state lab test done just to figure out what in the world is going on. She is taking the flock back to have them checked and treated. I am so relieved! I was losing sleep and just super stressed out worrying over these girls. Now I feel like they might have a real chance for recovery as long as it's not ILT or Coryza, etc....

How is she doing?

After looking at the photos, the bloody mucous, the watery eyes and re-reading your other post, I am leaning toward ILT. I do see where you initially saw bubbles in the eyes and the symptoms could still fit Mycoplasma, but the blood is the most concerning.

Did the breeder say what she was going to do with them when she takes them back? ( Treat for illness, then re-sell or cull)

I understand your stress level has been over the top. Personally I would still consider contacting the state lab and sending the sickest one for necropsy. You need to know what illness you have been dealing with.

It sounds like the breeder might be trying to rug sweep this issue and doesn't want you contacting the state vet and reporting where this illness came from. I would never deal with this person again and I would for sure be sending one for necropsy! Is ILT a reportable disease in Texas?

Her other eye is starting to seal shut this morning, but she is still alive. The breeder suggested fowl pox, but I don't see any lesions inside her mouth. Her neck seems to be covered in mucous. You are probably right about ILT. How terrible. That probably means she will have to cull them all even the healthy ones showing no symptoms.

The breeder said that she was going to have her vet check them out and then treat them with some sort of shots. If it is something bad, she would cull them. She said a couple of her young birds were looking sick the other day. She also does chicken shows so perhaps this is something that was unknowingly picked up from that. Hopefully she can end the girls' misery either through appropriate meds or culling soon.

She has quite a big operation so definitely makes sense that she dose not want me to contact the state. I have no doubt the state would likely will ask where the birds came from. She offered to bring them back to me once they are better. It sounds like they have ILT though so I doubt I will ever see them again.
