Last year, I had a problem with neighborhood cats. They would smash open the just laid eggs and eat them. Then I lost a hen to either a raccoon or a possum. So I started looking around for solutions. Couldn't lay in wait and shoot them, I live in town. Couldn't poison them, neighbors dogs come to visit. So I tried this stuff. Cats were gone, didn't lose any more hens, and the neighbors dogs stopped visiting. From the label, its basically capsaicin, the chickens have no problem if it blows in the coop. One application lasts a month, although I only had to apply it twice last year. I knew when it was time when the garden started being the biggest potty spot for the local cats. I bought more this year and put it all around our yard. No buried business in our just plowed garden, and I haven't glimpsed a cat on the property since.
