Hello! Our little bantam Easter Egger started going broody a couple weeks ago, and so we decided to let her give it a go! I found someone on Craigslist willing to give me fertilized chicken eggs for free (she loves her rooster and has always wondered what future offspring of his would look like). I put the four eggs under the hen on the 9th of April. If everything goes correctly we should hear peeps by the 30th at the latest.

I'm wondering if I need to provide extra warmth in the coop to help the bantam keep four chicks warm? We live in Seattle... lows at night are skirting the upper 30s/lower 40s. Any advice would be awesome, thanks!

No, no heat. The flock needs chick starter feed when the chicks hatch, with oyster shell on the side. Then feed grower or flock raiser to all. That's it.
