Hi, I have 4 chicks which hatched under a broody for the first time.
My cockerel is a Buff Pekin, so my chicks are crossed with him and the white ones are Light Sussex and the brown ones are Goldline.
They are now nearly 5 weeks old. I think I have 2 girls and 2 boys, what do you think?

I think that one of each colour, the ones with more red combs and wattles coming, look like they are males. They are also bigger than the other two.

I hope someone can help, thank you. X

Thanks for your reply. Number 4 is a lot smaller and shyer than 3. 3 also has hairy legs! Like our roo! Anyone else have any ideas?

From my limited experience of raising three chicks (two of which are roosters) I'd agree with iwiw60. I can't really tell from the last one. But like so many people told me, you can never truly tell until you hear a crow

have to look at the length of tail and wing feathers at that age is perfect...long tails and wing feathers are hens and short tail and wing feathers are cokerals..they all have combs at that age..jeff
