We have an 9 week old Pekin. We built him a home and enclosure with the plans of finding him/her some friends. Yesterday we brought home 3 Pekins, 1 boy and 2 females, approx. 3 mos. old who were raised together. Our little guy/girl is very interested in joining in the fun with the 3 newbies but they want no part of him. They run at him, honk, and peck at him. We do not leave them alone. They all have free run of our yard during the day. At night the 3 newbies get the duck home and our little guy is alone in a large cage. At times, the big ones will tolerate the little one sitting in their fenced in yard for a while but eventually they chase him away. Is there hope that they will eventually accept the small one? Is there anything we can do to facilitate his incorporation into their group.

I think it will eventually be OK. Since there are 3 of them & only 1 of him, the poor guy is outnumbered. You just have to keep them in seeing distance of each other for a while & then eventually put them together under supervision. They will fight a little, but doubtful that they will hurt him. Ducks can be very territorial.

Good luck!
