Quail chick laying on its side?

A couple times I found my quail chick laying on its side. He got right back up and is running around. But is he too hot with the heating lamp? Or is he just basking?

I have a quail doing the same thing. She lays on her side and kicks her feet for a minute or two then pops back up.

It almost looks playful, but it is freaking me out. How are yours doing?

Sounds like basking to me.

If they are eating, drinking and peeping normally, I wouldn't be too worried. If they lay down for a long time, become legarthic, have difficulty breathing, walking, or quit eating or drinking, THEN you can worry!
