Hello all. New here and new to raising chickens. Well new again lol it has been about 30 years since I have lived in the country so I could raise them. Right now I have 28 wonderful chickens. So a few days ago my oldest hen 10 months had her first babies. (3) then over the next night she had 2 more. 5 living 1 egg full but didn't finish hatchin. Mom is 10 months old. She started laying54 days ago. I left the eggs first month she wouldn't sit. She even moved eggs out of her nest but just didn't want to sit. After I collected all her eggs I thought I would try again after a couple of weeks I went in to find unlike all the other days she was on her nest. She would get off eat and drink then return to her nest. 24 days later she was a mom. I am so proud she did this without any encouragement her and her rooster are doing well with the babies... Anyway I am James live in Oregon North central
