question about making a plucker

I am planning on making my own plucker. I have the fingers and a design. I'm not doing the drum style, I'm doing the one run by a drill. Here's my question...what spacing is best for the fingers?

My best advice would be to not waste your time with the drill plucker. It is a nightmare and does not do a good job. The drill is impossible to secure to a table and even if you had another person holding the drill down it still gets moved around. As you're feeding the bird into the drill it will grab the chicken and pull it in. I started a batch of birds with a drill and ended up just skinning and quartering the rest out. Either rent a tub plucker or start building one of your own if you will do this again. In the event you do go the drill route its cheaper and easier to just buy one of ebay than to make one.

I honestly think you could hand pluck a properly scalded bird faster than the drill can, with less damage to the carcass. Tub pluckers, on the other hand, are ridiculous.
