I have a frizzle that has started molting about a week ago, its been a super warm fall here and is just starting to cool down, but then she got broody and is setting on a few eggs. my question is since hens are not supposed to lay while they are molting does this matter? also, if some of my boys are molting too can they still become dads?
im very new at this so if my questions are goofy that's why! haha

It is fine that she is broody even though she's molting. Hens go broody whenever their body tells them to--usually in warm weather, but not always. Besides, broody hens don't lay anyway, at least after they have a clutch of eggs.

Molting roosters are still capable of siring chicks. Fertility may drop a little, but not enough to prevent eggs from being fertilized.

thanks so much! fluffy just looks so pitiful setting on these eggs all molted and such, she reminds me of how I felt when I was 9 months pregnant and mu son was 3! yikes!
