When I first got my chicks I ordered this:
http://www.amazon.com/Add-A-Motor-C...qid=1414813303&sr=8-1&keywords=Auto+coop+door
But it laid around in the garage for nearly 2 years before loosing a hen out of the open coop at night forced me to build a new coop door and install it.
Let me tell you-- this is the greatest invention since aluminum foil!!!! I am KICKING myself for not doing it when I got it! Oh I still check to be sure it opens and closes when it should, but now I can just peek out the window instead of trekking all the way around the back yard into the nether regions!
But I can sleep in on the weekends if I want to now. I can go out with family/friends instead of rushing home to be here before too much "dark" night has come, or worrying if the hens are safe!
If you're on the fence about whether to get an auto coop door closer or not -- just DO IT! I bet you will wonder why you didn't do it beforehand!
