I had 57 baby chicks delivered in the mail four days ago. 16 barred rocks, 15 buff orpingtons, and 26 red sex links. I'm wanting to wing band them, but I don't feel the web of skin that instructions are talking about? The part I feel feels too small to be able to have a wing band.

But as an overview, here's how I'm brooding them:
Baby playpen (roughly 2x3 -- maybe 3x4?) with cardboard layered with fine pine shavings. They have a 5 gallon waterer and a 30 lb hanging feeder (instead of a bunch of little ones; these were bought to last them until 17-20 weeks). They are fed Pen Pals medicated chick starter. They have two heat lamps as they seem to be a bit cold. I have cardboard wrapped around the brooder to keep out drafts. They are in my garage.

Thanks! I weighed and wing banded them yesterday. Definitely a lot easier than I thought. They peeped more when I picked them up than when I banded them. Range of weights, 1.6 oz to 3.1 oz.
