Would this work as chick bedding?

I just picked up some quikrete tube sand at my local lowes. Would this work okay as chick bedding?

Should i put something on top of it? Underneath it?

I have never used sand so I don't know if it will or will not work. But if you deiced on different bedding pine shavings from your local feed store works great.

I have sand in the bottom of my chicks and they are doing ok

I used Quickrete fine sand (and a bit of PDZ when they were 2 weeks old) works great.

But put their food and water on something solid (I used a tote lid on top of a couple 2x4s) for the first week until they learn to eat out of the feeder so they don't eat too much sand.
