How do you tell if your duck is a boy or a girl? My mom said when she was little she could tell by their tail feathers.

Drakes do have curly tail feathers, but they don't get those until maturity. Another way to sex ducklings is by voice. You can do the quack test around 4-5 weeks old. If it quacks loudly then it is a female. If the duckling has a quieter, raspy sounding voice it is male.
