Meat chicken housing

Hi all, this forum is so awesome,I've learned so much. My question is can I have meat chickens in a fenced in area, without a chicken tractor? I live in Northern Mn so it's pretty cold,last frost is in May. Room is not an issue, but I don't feel like building a whole shelter for them. Any ideas? Or is the chicken tractor the best option?

they would be ok, but I would definitely suggest giving them some type of shelter. I use a tractor I built, one end is covered, so they have a place to get out of the sun, weather or to sleep. So if you have something you can put in there for shelter, they should be good!
