Breed?

Could anyone help me out on what Breed of chicks I have? A friend brought them over for me and said "Bantam". Aren't there multiple Bantam breeds? Also, will these chicks (assuming they are hens), produce decent sized eggs? Thanks a bunch!

There are LOTS of bantam breeds, many of which are miniature sizes of standard breeds, but some are special bantam breeds or games.

And many bantam breeds have chipmunk chicks, so that is pretty hard to tell what they may be because we are going from all the major breeds (small size) to games and specialty types.

They *might* be Brown Leghorn bantams, or even Welsummer bantams or Speckled Sussex bantams, or even Old English Game bantams.

Egg size will be small, about half of what you see in the grocery store.

Egg production will be poor to moderate to even decent depending upon the breed.

Many bantams are raised for beauty, pets, and show rather than egg laying.
